Bankruptcy

Hill Legal represents Arkansas individuals and families in Chapter 7 personal bankruptcy. Chapter 13 reorganization, business bankruptcies, and Chapter 11 are referred. The Chapter 7 practice covers the consultation, means-test analysis, document preparation, filing, the 341 meeting of creditors, and follow-through to discharge.

The initial bankruptcy consultation is free. The consultation is used to evaluate whether bankruptcy is the right tool for your situation, or whether something short of bankruptcy — debt negotiation, a workout, or simply waiting out the statute of limitations on old consumer debt — is a better fit. Chapter 7 fees are flat and must be paid before filing per federal practice; the filing fee paid to the court is separate and is disclosed up front.

Bring a rough list of your debts and your monthly take-home pay to the consultation. The conversation is honest — if your situation does not warrant bankruptcy, you will hear that. If it does, the next step is a longer working meeting to gather the documents the petition requires.
