Criminal Defense
Hill Legal represents defendants in DWI cases (first, second, and third offenses), other misdemeanors, traffic violations, including reckless driving and careless and prohibited driving, and select felonies in Lonoke County and surrounding counties. Serious violent felonies, capital cases, and federal criminal matters are referred to attorneys who specialize in those categories — not because the firm cannot read the law, but because those cases deserve full-time specialist attention.
Most criminal defense matters are flat-fee, structured around the procedural stages of the case. DWI-1 has a single flat fee that covers everything through trial or plea. More serious cases use staged flat fees or hourly billing with a retainer. Payment plans are available for appropriate matters; the engagement letter clearly sets out the schedule, so there are no surprises. The fee does not include private investigators, expert witnesses, or court costs, which are billed at cost when needed.
If you have just been arrested, the first thing the call will cover is what happens in the next 7 days — specifically, the Office of Driver Services hearing deadline if a DWI is involved, and the first court appearance. If the arrest was overnight, the call is brief and oriented around immediate steps; a longer consultation is scheduled for later in the week. Saying nothing to anyone other than your attorney is the single most important thing you can do until that conversation happens.
